Ingredients
- Whole wheat kataifi pastry - 100 grams
- Low-fat cottage cheese - 150 grams
- Greek yogurt - 50 grams
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Unsalted butter - 25 grams, melted
- Pistachios, crushed - 2 tablespoons
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
- Orange blossom water - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish - a few sprigs
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the low-fat cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, honey, rose water, orange blossom water, and cinnamon powder. Mix well until smooth.
- Take the kataifi pastry and separate the strands. In a bowl, drizzle the melted butter over the pastry and toss to coat thoroughly.
- Spread half of the buttered kataifi pastry evenly in a greased baking dish, pressing down gently to form a base.
- Layer the cheese mixture over the kataifi base evenly.
- Top with the remaining half of the buttered kataifi pastry, spreading it evenly over the cheese layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares.
