- Semolina - 100 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Unsalted butter - 30 grams
- Rosewater - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (pistachios or almonds) - 30 grams
Steps
- In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, add the semolina gradually while continuously stirring to prevent lumps from forming.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until it thickens (about 10-15 minutes).
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the butter, rosewater, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased dish and spread it evenly. Let it cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
- Once slightly cooled, cut the Khalta into squares or diamonds and top with chopped nuts.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, drizzled with additional syrup if desired.
