Ingredients

  • Greek yogurt - 400 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Za'atar spice blend - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh mint leaves - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and salt, stirring well to ensure the salt is evenly distributed.
  2. Line a fine mesh strainer with a cheesecloth or clean kitchen towel and place it over a bowl to catch the whey.
  3. Transfer the yogurt mixture into the lined strainer and fold the cheesecloth over the top.
  4. Let the yogurt drain in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or overnight to achieve a thick consistency.
  5. Once drained, transfer the labneh to a serving dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Drizzle the olive oil over the labneh and sprinkle with za'atar, chopped mint, parsley, and lemon zest.
