Ingredients
- Bulgur wheat - 100 grams
- Ground lamb or beef - 150 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Water - 250 ml
Steps
- Soak the bulgur wheat in water for 30 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat, add the chopped onion, and sauté until softened.
- Add the ground lamb or beef to the skillet, followed by cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked.
- Stir in the toasted pine nuts and chopped parsley, then remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the soaked bulgur with the remaining olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Press half of the bulgur mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish to form a crust.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly over the bulgur crust, then layer the sliced tomatoes on top.
- Finish by pressing the remaining bulgur mixture over the top to create a second layer.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
