Karakadeh
Karakadeh is a delightful Lebanese hibiscus tea dessert, served chilled and sweetened with a hint of orange blossom. Its vibrant color and tart flavor make it a refreshing treat, perfect for warm days.

Ingredients
- Dried hibiscus flowers - 30 grams
- Water - 500 ml
- Sugar - 100 grams
- Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Cold water - 100 ml
- Chopped pistachios - 20 grams (for garnish)
Steps
- In a saucepan, combine the dried hibiscus flowers and 500 ml of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.
- After simmering, strain the mixture into a bowl, discarding the hibiscus flowers. Return the liquid to the saucepan.
- Add sugar and orange blossom water to the liquid and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
- In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with 100 ml of cold water to create a slurry.
- Gradually add the cornstarch slurry to the hibiscus liquid, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once thickened, pour the mixture into serving dishes or molds and let it cool to room temperature.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
- Before serving, garnish with chopped pistachios on top.
