Ingredients

  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Pine nuts - 2 tablespoons, toasted
  • Allspice - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Tomato - 1 large, sliced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Zucchini - 1 medium, sliced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef, chopped onion, parsley, toasted pine nuts, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Layer the sliced tomato, bell pepper, and zucchini in a baking dish, drizzling with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkling with a little salt and pepper.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into oval patties and place them on top of the vegetables in the baking dish.
  5. Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the kafta and vegetables, and sprinkle the minced garlic on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and vegetables are tender.
  7. Remove from the oven, drizzle with lemon juice, and serve hot.
