- Ground beef or lamb - 400 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Parsley - 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Pine nuts - 2 tablespoons, toasted
- Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Tomato - 2 medium, sliced
- Zucchini - 1 medium, sliced
- Potato - 1 medium, sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 1/2 cup
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, parsley, toasted pine nuts, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into small logs or patties and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- Layer the sliced potatoes, zucchini, and tomatoes over the kafta in the baking dish.
- Drizzle olive oil over the vegetables and kafta, then pour 1/2 cup of water into the dish to keep it moist while baking.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the kafta is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
