Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams, finely chopped
  • Fresh mint - 15 grams, finely chopped
  • Fresh dill - 15 grams, finely chopped
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the saucepan and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan, stirring to coat the rice with the oil and mix with the onions and garlic.
  5. Pour in 300 ml of water, add the salt, black pepper, and cinnamon powder. Bring to a boil.
  6. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
  7. Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice with a fork and gently fold in the chopped parsley, mint, and dill before serving.
