Ingredients
- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 30 grams, finely chopped
- Fresh mint - 15 grams, finely chopped
- Fresh dill - 15 grams, finely chopped
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the saucepan and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan, stirring to coat the rice with the oil and mix with the onions and garlic.
- Pour in 300 ml of water, add the salt, black pepper, and cinnamon powder. Bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and gently fold in the chopped parsley, mint, and dill before serving.
