Ingredients

  • Halloumi cheese - 250 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Cut the halloumi cheese into bite-sized cubes, about 2 cm each.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
  4. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs mixed with chopped fresh parsley.
  5. Coat each halloumi cube first in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
  7. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated halloumi bites in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
