Ingredients

  • Cauliflower - 300 grams (1 medium head)
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams (1/3 cup)
  • Cornstarch - 25 grams (2 tablespoons)
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 150 ml (2/3 cup)
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Wash and cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
  6. Carefully place the battered florets in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until the cauliflower is golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.
  8. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried cauliflower and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
