  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped walnuts - 30 grams
  • Rose water - 1 teaspoon
  • Sliced almonds - 20 grams for garnish

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, combine 250 ml of water, 50 grams of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of rose water. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
  2. In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add 100 grams of semolina and stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown.
  3. Once the semolina is toasted, gradually pour the sugar-water mixture into the pan while stirring to avoid lumps.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the mixture. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Remove the mixture from heat and fold in 30 grams of chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.
  7. Once cooled, cut the fawda into squares or diamonds. Garnish with sliced almonds before serving.
