  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Yogurt - 100 grams (for sauce)
  • Tahini - 1 tablespoon (for sauce)
  • Water - 1 tablespoon (for sauce)
  • Salt - a pinch (for sauce)
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon (for sauce)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the beef, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated beef for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt, tahini, water, salt, and lemon juice to create the sauce.
  4. Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1 minute on each side.
  5. Assemble the shawarma by placing the cooked beef in the pita, then topping with diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and fresh parsley.
  6. Drizzle the garlic sauce over the top, wrap the pita, and serve immediately.
