  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable broth - 300 milliliters
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper, cooking for another minute to release the spices' aromas.
