Ingredients
- Gluten-Free Phyllo Dough - 8 sheets
- Mixed Nuts (walnuts, pistachios, almonds) - 100 grams, finely chopped
- Unsalted Butter - 75 grams, melted
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Honey - 60 ml
- Water - 60 ml
- Vanilla Extract - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix the finely chopped mixed nuts with ground cinnamon and set aside.
- Brush a small baking dish with melted butter and layer 4 sheets of gluten-free phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with butter before adding the next.
- Spread half of the nut mixture evenly over the layered phyllo.
- Layer 2 more sheets of phyllo dough on top, brushing each with butter, then add the remaining nut mixture.
- Top with the final 2 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining honey, water, sugar, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Once the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over it.
- Allow the baklava to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
