Ingredients
- Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
- Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
- Walnuts - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Almonds - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Water - 100 milliliters
- Honey - 30 grams
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, almonds, cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place a second sheet on top and brush again with butter.
- Sprinkle a portion of the nut mixture (about 1 tablespoon) along one edge of the phyllo dough.
- Roll the dough tightly over the nut mixture to form a log, then brush the outside with more melted butter.
- Repeat the process with the remaining sheets of phyllo and nut mixture to create additional rolls.
- Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with any remaining melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the syrup by combining water, honey, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and immediately drizzle the warm syrup over the hot baklava rolls.
- Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
