- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Zaatar spice blend - 3 tablespoons
- Additional olive oil for topping - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a round shape about 1 cm thick.
- Brush each round with olive oil and sprinkle generously with zaatar spice blend.
- Place the dough rounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
