Ingredients

  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Bell pepper - 1 small, sliced
  • Zucchini - 1 small, sliced
  • Eggs - 2 (optional, for serving)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into oval or round patties and place them in a baking dish.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil over the kafta patties and arrange the sliced tomatoes, bell peppers, and zucchini around them.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the kafta is cooked through and slightly browned.
  6. If desired, crack the eggs on top of the kafta patties during the last 5 minutes of baking for a delicious topping.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
