Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 7 grams
- Olive oil - 30 ml
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Ground anise seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 30 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, ground anise, and ground coriander. Mix well.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ring or a flattened disc.
- Dip each ring into a bowl of water and then coat with sesame seeds, ensuring they are well covered.
- Place the sesame-coated rings on the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
