Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • Olive oil - 30 ml
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Ground anise seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 30 grams

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, ground anise, and ground coriander. Mix well.
  3. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ring or a flattened disc.
  8. Dip each ring into a bowl of water and then coat with sesame seeds, ensuring they are well covered.
  9. Place the sesame-coated rings on the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
