Ingredients

  • Whole milk - 500 ml
  • Cornstarch - 30 g
  • Sugar - 50 g
  • Rose water - 1 tsp
  • Pistachios, chopped - 30 g
  • Honey or date syrup - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, combine the whole milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cold milk to create a slurry. Once the milk mixture is hot, gradually add the cornstarch slurry while continuously stirring.
  3. Continue cooking and stirring for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens to a custard-like consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the rose water for flavor.
  5. Pour the mixture into two serving bowls or dishes and let cool to room temperature.
  6. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
  7. Before serving, drizzle with honey or date syrup and sprinkle with chopped pistachios.
