Ingredients
- Arabic bread - 2 slices
- Milk - 500 ml
- Sugar - 100 g
- Cornstarch - 30 g
- Rose water - 1 tsp
- Pistachios (chopped) - 30 g
- Walnuts (chopped) - 30 g
- Butter - 30 g
- Water - 200 ml
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, 50 g of sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Stir well and cook over medium heat until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once thick, remove from heat and add the rose water. Stir to combine.
- In another saucepan, bring the water and remaining 50 g of sugar to a boil to create a simple syrup. Let it simmer for 5 minutes before removing from heat.
- Cut the Arabic bread into quarters and arrange them in a baking dish. Pour the simple syrup over the bread, ensuring it is well-soaked.
- Melt the butter and pour it over the soaked bread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden and slightly crispy.
- Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before pouring the thickened milk mixture over the top.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios and walnuts before serving.
