Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Water - 800 milliliters
  • Chicken breast (skinless) - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped green onions - 2 tablespoons
  • Carrot - 1 small, diced
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice in cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in enough water to cover for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a pot, add the soaked rice and 800 milliliters of fresh water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the chicken breast, minced garlic, grated ginger, and salt. Cover and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 30 minutes, remove the chicken breast, shred it using two forks, and return it to the pot.
  5. Add the diced carrot and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the carrot is tender.
  6. Serve the porridge hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds. Add soy sauce to taste if desired.
