- Korean burdock root - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Water - 200 ml
- Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 1 stalk, chopped
Steps
- Peel the Korean burdock root and cut it into thin, matchstick-sized pieces.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and water. Stir to mix well.
- Add the burdock root pieces to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After 20 minutes, uncover the saucepan and increase the heat to medium-high to allow the sauce to reduce and thicken for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
