Ingredients

  • Korean burdock root - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 1 stalk, chopped

Steps

  1. Peel the Korean burdock root and cut it into thin, matchstick-sized pieces.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and water. Stir to mix well.
  3. Add the burdock root pieces to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. After 20 minutes, uncover the saucepan and increase the heat to medium-high to allow the sauce to reduce and thicken for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
