Ingredients
- Chicken thighs - 400 grams, boneless and skinless
- Kosher salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Soy sauce (kosher) - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- 1. In a bowl, season the chicken thighs with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let marinate for about 10 minutes.
- 2. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl until well combined.
- 3. Dredge the marinated chicken thighs in cornstarch, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- 4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat, enough to submerge the chicken pieces.
- 5. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken pieces in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- 6. In a separate skillet, combine the fried chicken and the sauce over low heat, tossing to coat the chicken evenly in the sauce for about 2-3 minutes.
- 7. Serve the Yangnyeom Chicken hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
