Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • Sesame oil - 20 grams
  • Honey - 40 grams
  • Brown sugar - 30 grams
  • Ground ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 30 milliliters
  • Cooking oil - for frying
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground ginger, and brown sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together sesame oil, honey, and water until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead gently until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into oval forms, about 5 cm long.
  5. Heat cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the shaped dough pieces to the oil.
  6. Fry the dough for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fried yakgwa and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. While still warm, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for garnish. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
