- Rice cake (tteok) - 200 grams
- Beef (brisket or sirloin) - 100 grams, thinly sliced
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Green onion - 2 stalks, sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Water - 1 liter
Steps
- In a pot, combine 1 liter of water, minced garlic, and sliced beef. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the beef is tender.
- Add the rice cakes to the pot and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the rice cakes are soft.
- Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to season the soup.
- In a small pan, heat a little oil and scramble the beaten egg until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Serve the soup hot, garnished with sliced green onions and topped with scrambled egg.
