Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
  • All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
  • Plant-based milk - 1/2 cup
  • Pizza dough - 1 pre-made (approximately 250 grams)
  • Korean BBQ sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegan cheese shreds - 1 cup
  • Green onions - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then slice it into 1 cm thick pieces.
  3. Set up a breading station by placing flour in one bowl, plant-based milk in another, and panko breadcrumbs in a third.
  4. Season the flour with salt and black pepper. Dip each tofu slice first in the flour, then in the plant-based milk, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Fry the breaded tofu slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  6. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to fit your baking tray. Transfer to the tray and spread a layer of Korean BBQ sauce over the base.
  7. Sprinkle the vegan cheese shreds evenly over the sauce, then layer the crispy tofu katsu on top.
  8. Drizzle additional Korean BBQ sauce over the tofu and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese has melted.
  10. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, slice, and serve hot.
