Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, chopped
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Begin by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm thick slices.
  2. In a pan, heat the sesame oil over medium heat and add the tofu slices, frying until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, water, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes to create the sauce.
  4. Once the tofu is golden, pour the sauce over the tofu and bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it cook for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors.
  6. Uncover, sprinkle the chopped green onion and sesame seeds on top, and cook for another 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce slightly.
  7. Remove from heat and serve warm with steamed rice or as a side dish.
