- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Carrot - 1/2, shredded
- Green onions - 1, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
- Place the tofu slices in the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Remove the tofu from the marinade and dust each slice with cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
- In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu slices and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- While the tofu is cooking, toast the burger buns lightly in a separate pan or oven.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by a slice of the cooked tofu, cucumber slices, shredded carrot, and chopped green onions.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and cover with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
