Ingredients

  • Cooked brown rice - 1 cup
  • Cooked chicken breast (shredded) - 150 grams
  • Korean sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • Spinach (blanched and chopped) - 1 cup
  • Carrot (julienned) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (thinly sliced) - 1 small
  • Radish (thinly sliced) - 1 small
  • Lettuce leaves (for wrapping) - 4 large
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste (gochujang) - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Cook brown rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, sesame oil, soy sauce, and minced garlic, and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, prepare the vegetables by blanching the spinach in boiling water for 1 minute, then chopping it coarsely.
  4. Julienne the carrot and thinly slice the cucumber and radish.
  5. Lay out the lettuce leaves on a plate, ready for wrapping.
  6. To assemble, take a lettuce leaf and add a spoonful of brown rice, followed by the seasoned chicken, blanched spinach, carrot, cucumber, and radish.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and add gochujang if desired for spice.
  8. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy your Ssam Bap!
