Ingredients

  • Kosher beef brisket - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Minced garlic - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce leaves (Butter or Romaine) - 8 leaves
  • Cucumber, julienned - 1 medium
  • Carrots, julienned - 1 medium
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  2. Add the beef brisket to the marinade, making sure it's well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the beef marinates, prepare the vegetables: julienne the cucumber and carrots, and chop the green onions.
  4. After marinating, heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef brisket for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until it reaches desired doneness.
  5. Once cooked, let the beef rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
  6. To serve, lay out the lettuce leaves on a plate. Place a few slices of beef in each leaf and top with cucumber, carrots, green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds and gochugaru.
  7. Wrap the lettuce around the fillings and enjoy each bite fresh!
