Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • Honey or maple syrup - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions (sliced) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and honey or maple syrup to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, gently toss to coat, and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
  5. Once the oil is hot, add the cornstarch to the marinated tofu and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Carefully place the tofu cubes in the skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  7. Once cooked, remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
