Ingredients
- Beef top round - 250 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 30 grams
- Brown sugar - 15 grams
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Green onion (chopped) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Slice the beef top round into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick, and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine the soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.
- Pour the marinade over the beef strips, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover the bowl and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 70°C (160°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the marinated beef strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and dry the beef for about 3-4 hours, or until the jerky is firm and slightly chewy but not brittle.
- Once done, remove the jerky from the oven and let it cool completely. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
