Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Adzuki beans - 50 grams
  • Water - 1 liter
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Honey (optional) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped green onions - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice and adzuki beans under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the adzuki beans in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften.
  3. In a pot, combine the soaked adzuki beans and 1 liter of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes until the beans are tender.
  5. Add the rinsed glutinous rice to the pot with the adzuki beans and stir well.
  6. Continue to simmer on low heat for an additional 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Once the porridge reaches a creamy consistency, add salt to taste.
  8. If desired, stir in honey for sweetness and drizzle sesame oil on top.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
