Ingredients

  • Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 4 cups
  • Korean radish (mu) - 100 grams, julienned
  • Carrot - 50 grams, julienned
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large pot, combine the cooked short-grain rice and 4 cups of water. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. After 15 minutes, add the julienned Korean radish, carrot, minced garlic, and ginger to the pot. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the salt, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with the chopped green onion and red pepper flakes if desired.
