Ingredients

  • Fresh spinach - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Thoroughly wash the fresh spinach under cold water to remove any dirt or grit.
  2. In a pot, bring 100 ml of water to a boil and add the spinach. Blanch for about 1-2 minutes until wilted.
  3. Drain the spinach and immediately rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking process. Squeeze out excess water and set aside.
  4. In a pan over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the blanched spinach to the pan along with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir well to combine.
  6. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spinach is well coated in the sauce and heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
