Ingredients

  • Fresh spinach - 200 grams
  • Doenjang (Korean soybean paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onion, chopped - 1 stalk
  • Red pepper flakes (gochugaru) - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Wash the spinach thoroughly and drain well.
  2. In a medium pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat and add minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the spinach to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until wilted.
  4. Stir in the doenjang and mix well, allowing the paste to coat the spinach.
  5. Pour in the water and let simmer for another 3-4 minutes until the spinach is tender and the flavors meld.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds, chopped green onion, and red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Serve warm as a side dish or over rice.
