- seitan - 200 grams
- panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- plant-based milk - 1/2 cup
- soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
- garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- ginger powder - 1 teaspoon
- sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- burger buns - 2
- shredded cabbage - 1 cup
- sliced cucumber - 1/2 cup
- sliced avocado - 1/2
- vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- salt - to taste
- pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl, mix the plant-based milk, soy sauce, gochujang, garlic powder, ginger powder, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
- Slice the seitan into 1 cm thick patties and marinate them in the mixture for at least 10 minutes.
- Prepare three separate bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with the remaining marinade, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat each marinated seitan patty first in flour, then dip into the marinade again, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Place the breaded patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- In a small bowl, mix vegan mayonnaise with rice vinegar to create a tangy sauce.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the sauce on the bottom bun, adding a crispy seitan patty, and topping it with shredded cabbage, cucumber slices, and avocado.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
