Ingredients

  • Live octopus - 300 grams
  • Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Green onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Lemon - 1, for garnish
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Ensure the octopus is fresh and alive. Rinse it thoroughly under cold running water.
  2. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, briefly dip the octopus in the water for about 30 seconds to blanch it. Remove and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut the octopus into small bite-sized pieces, approximately 2-3 cm in length.
  4. In a bowl, mix sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, and chopped green onion together to create a dressing.
  5. Toss the octopus pieces in the dressing until well coated. Let it sit for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  6. Plate the Sannakji, and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top. Garnish with lemon wedges and chili flakes if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh and unique flavors of the dish.
