Ingredients

  • Halal pork belly - 250 grams
  • Cooked white rice - 2 cups
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat a grill pan or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the halal pork belly slices with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill the pork belly for about 4-5 minutes on each side until crispy and cooked through.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and gochujang to create a dipping sauce.
  5. While the pork is grilling, prepare the vegetables: julienne the carrot and cucumber, and chop the spring onions.
  6. Once the pork is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
  7. To serve, place a generous amount of cooked rice on each plate, top with sliced pork belly, and arrange the fresh vegetables around the rice.
  8. Drizzle the dipping sauce over the pork and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  9. Serve with lettuce leaves for wrapping and enjoy your Samgyeopsal Bap!
