Ingredients
- Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
- Shrimp, peeled and deveined - 150 grams
- Ground squid - 100 grams
- Cabbage, finely chopped - 50 grams
- Carrot, grated - 30 grams
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Green onion, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce (halal) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cooking oil (for frying) - 2 tablespoons
- Water (for steaming) - 1/2 cup
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, ground squid, chopped cabbage, grated carrot, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green onion.
- Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt to the seafood mixture, then mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface and add about 1 tablespoon of the seafood filling in the center.
- Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it in half to form a triangle, and press the edges firmly to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add half of the dumplings and fry for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Add 1/2 cup of water to the pan and cover immediately to steam the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes until the water evaporates and the dumplings are cooked through.
- Remove the dumplings from the pan and repeat the frying and steaming process with the remaining dumplings.
- Serve hot with dipping sauce made from soy sauce, vinegar, and a dash of sesame oil.
