Ingredients
- Cooked short-grain rice - 1 cup (200g)
- Fresh perilla leaves - 10 leaves
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned (50g)
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned (50g)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Scallions - 2, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (10g)
Steps
- Cook the short-grain rice according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Add the julienned carrot and cucumber to the rice mixture and gently fold in the chopped scallions.
- Take a perilla leaf, place a spoonful of the rice mixture at the base of the leaf, and roll it up tightly like a wrap.
- Repeat the process with the remaining perilla leaves and rice mixture.
- Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top of the rolled perilla leaves before serving.
- Serve the Perilla Leaf Rice with extra soy sauce on the side for dipping.
