Ingredients
- Glutinous rice - 100 grams
- Red beans - 50 grams
- Water - 800 milliliters
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Chopped scallions - 1 tablespoon
- Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Rinse the red beans and soak them in water for 2-3 hours or overnight for better cooking results.
- In a pot, combine the soaked glutinous rice and 800 milliliters of fresh water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Add the soaked red beans to the pot, along with 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Continue to simmer for another 20-25 minutes until the rice and beans are soft and the mixture has a porridge-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil for added flavor.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
