Ingredients
- Beef brisket - 200 grams, thinly sliced
- Jasmine rice - 100 grams (1/2 cup), rinsed
- Water - 1 liter
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (ensure it's Halal)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 100 grams, sliced
Steps
- In a pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced beef brisket to the pot and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to taste. Add the julienned carrot and sliced mushrooms, then simmer for another 10 minutes.
- While the soup is simmering, cook the rinsed jasmine rice in a separate pot according to package instructions.
- Once the rice is cooked, divide it into two bowls. Ladle the soup over the rice, ensuring each bowl has an equal amount of beef and vegetables.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
