Ingredients
- Short-grain rice - 1 cup
- Water - 1 1/4 cups
- Myeongran jeot (fermented shrimp) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Nori (seaweed), cut into strips - 1 sheet
Steps
- Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing the myeongran jeot, sesame oil, soy sauce, gochugaru, and half of the chopped green onions in a small bowl.
- Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and transfer it to serving bowls.
- Drizzle the sauce over the rice and mix gently to combine.
- Garnish with the remaining green onions, sesame seeds, and nori strips before serving.
