Ingredients

  • Pollock roe - 150 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Mirin - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Red chili pepper - 1, sliced (optional)
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar, and water to make the marinade.
  2. Rinse the pollock roe under cold water and pat dry.
  3. In a pan over medium heat, add the marinade and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add the pollock roe to the pan, being careful not to break it, and simmer for about 8-10 minutes until the roe is heated through and absorbs the flavors.
  5. Add chopped green onions and sliced red chili pepper (if using) in the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle black sesame seeds on top before serving.
  7. Serve warm with steamed rice.
