Ingredients

  • Tteok (Korean rice cakes) - 200 grams
  • Water - 500 milliliters
  • Korean fish cake - 100 grams, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, chopped
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon for garnish

Steps

  1. In a pot, bring 500 milliliters of water to a boil.
  2. Add the tteok and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and chewy.
  3. Remove the tteok from the pot and set aside, reserving the water.
  4. In the same pot, add sliced fish cake, carrot, cabbage, and chopped green onions.
  5. Cook the vegetables for about 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
  6. In a small bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
  7. Pour the sauce over the cooked vegetables in the pot and stir well.
  8. Add the cooked tteok back into the pot and mix everything, cooking for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and additional green onions if desired.
