Ingredients

  • Dried anchovies - 50 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce (or coconut aminos for Paleo) - 1 tablespoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the dried anchovies for 2-3 minutes until they are fragrant and slightly crispy.
  2. Remove the anchovies from the skillet and set them aside to cool.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sesame oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until the garlic is golden but not burnt.
  4. Add the toasted anchovies back into the skillet along with the soy sauce (or coconut aminos), red pepper flakes, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine and heat everything through for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a serving bowl.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onion and sesame seeds before serving.
