  • Shiitake mushrooms - 200 grams
  • Portobello mushrooms - 200 grams

  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Cooked rice or lettuce leaves for serving - 1 cup

Steps

  1. Clean the shiitake and portobello mushrooms, removing the stems and slicing them into thick pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the marinade and toss well to ensure they are evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Place the marinated mushrooms on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until they are tender and have nice grill marks.
  6. Once cooked, remove the mushrooms from the grill and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve the grilled mushroom galbi with cooked rice or wrapped in lettuce leaves.
