Ingredients

  • Water - 500 ml
  • Korean chili pepper flakes (gochugaru) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (sliced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Firm white fish (like cod or halibut) - 200 grams, cut into chunks
  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 100 grams
  • Squid (cleaned and sliced) - 100 grams
  • Korean radish (mu) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Zucchini - 1 small, sliced
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Mushrooms (shiitake or enoki) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil and add the minced garlic and sliced ginger.
  2. Stir in the gochugaru and soy sauce, and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to develop the flavors.
  3. Add the sliced Korean radish and zucchini to the pot, and cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  4. Add the chunks of white fish, shrimp, and squid to the pot, and gently stir to combine.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through.
  6. Drizzle the sesame oil into the stew and season with salt to taste.
  7. Finally, add the chopped green onions, stir well, and remove from heat.
  8. Serve hot in bowls, optionally with steamed rice on the side.
