Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Gochujang (Korean red chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Drain the firm tofu and press it with a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a large bowl.
  2. Add gochujang, minced garlic, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper to the crumbled tofu. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two patties and coat each patty with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom halves of the toasted buns, then add lettuce, the cooked tofu patties, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the patties for garnish, then place the top halves of the buns on each burger.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite side dish.
